#burkinafaso 's foreign minister, Djibrill Bassolé, collapsed and fell from a platform during a joint press conference with his #türkish counterpart Ahmet Davutoğlu in Ankara, knocking over a stand in front of him as #davutoğlu tried and failed to catch his arm. Officials said he had taken antibiotics for a sore throat shortly before the event, and he was seen smiling as he was taken to hospital. Bassolé had served as foreign minister since 2007 under President Blaise Compaoré and was known internationally for mediating peace talks in Darfur on behalf of the African Union and United Nations. His career took a sharp turn two years later. After #compaoré 's ouster in a 2014 uprising, Bassolé was accused of masterminding a September 2015 coup attempt by the #presidential security regiment against Burkina Faso's transitional government, an attempt that collapsed within a week after army-backed demonstrators attacked the rebel unit's barracks. He was convicted of treason in 2019 and sentenced to 10 years in prison. #collapse #ad #turkey🇹🇷 #internationalrelations #geopolitics #blooper
